Metso’s acquisition of Aker Kvaerner’s Pulping and Power businesses cleared by the European Commission

Metso Corporation’s acquisition of Aker Kvaerner’s Pulping and Power businesses has been approved by the European Commission on 12. December 2006. Noviter Oy is a part of Kvaerner Power Oy, that is a part of Aker Kvaerner group. Therefore Metso will be also Noviter Oy's main owner starting 2. January 2007.

Noviter Oy will deliver a power plant boiler with equipment to Kiviristin Lämpö Oy in Lapua. The plant will use milled peat, wood chips and small amounts of reed canary grass as fuel.

When ready the power plant will produce 4 MW of electricity and 14 MW of district heat.

Narva boiler plant has been handed over to the client

The steam boiler plant with capacity of 260 MW, Noviter has built in Narva, was handed over to the client, AS Narva Elektrijaamad at the summer. Boiler plant produces district heat to city of Narva and process steam to the needs of the textile industry in the area.

Noviter reasserts its grounds as a supplier of bio fuel boiler plants

Noviter delivers a 26 MW bio fuel boiler plant to Kemin Energia Oy as a turn key delivery. In addition to boilers the delivery includes  7 MW heat recovery plant as well. Boiler plant will be ready for commercial use in the end of year 2006.   

Noviter also supplies Juankosken Biolämpö Oy with boiler plant with total output of 31 MW. Added to bio fuel boiler plant delivery also includes two oil firing boilers for reserve and peak operation. The main fuels fired in this boiler plant will be wood chips and peat. The installation works of boiler plant are in progress and the boiler plant will be ready in the spring of year 2006. The plant produces steam of which 80 % will be delivered to cardboard factory of Stromsdal Oy and 20 % will be delivered to Savon Voima Lämpö Oy for producing of district heat.

More district heating output to Tampere

Noviter delivers to Electric Company of Tampere (Tampereen Sähkölaitos) an enlargement to existing boiler plant of Ratina. Boiler plant will be enlarged with one 40 MW district heating boiler. Boiler plant will be ready at the end of year 2005.

Noviter delivers bio fuel boiler plants to Ilomantsi and Haapavesi

Noviter Oy delivers, to Vapo Oy Voima to Ilomantsi and to Haapavesi, domestic fuels using steam boiler plants with auxiliary equipment. The value of signed contracts is about 12 MEUR.

The steam boilers will be delivered to pellet factories of Vapo Oy. In addition to steam boiler the deliveries also include for instance the fuel feeding and flue gas rinsing devices, pipelines and the boiler room building.

The combustion techniques is based on the environmentally friendly fluidized bed combustion, which lends specially well for domestic fuels.

When the power plant of Ilomantsi pellet factory is finished, it will produce 3,3 MW electricity, 8 MW process steam for needs of pellet factory and 8 MW district heat to Ilomantsi town. The boiler plant will be completed at the end of year 2005.

The power plant in Haapavesi will be built to the connection with the new pellet factory. After being finished the power plant will produce about 4 MW electricity, steam for pellet factory, to Valio Oy and for slugde drying and also about 8 MW district heat to Haapavesi Energy Oy. In addition to the peat the plant will also use as fuel the sludge generated at the drying plant of Haapavesi Ympäristöpalvelut Oy.

Noviter Oy carries out these projects in co-operation with companies Oy Witermo Ab and Oktokon Oy who also operate in Turku region.

The orderer of boiler plants, Vapo Oy, is one of the biggest companies producing domestic fuels in Finland and it is also a significant supplier of electricity and heat.

The hot water boiler plant in Maarinkunnas got completed

The hot water boiler plant in Maarinkunnas, which Noviter Oy has delivered to Vantaa Energy Oy, was handed over for commercial use on 1.12.2004.

The first part of boiler plant, 3 x 40 MW, became ready in 2001. After this extension the total output of boiler plant is 200 MW. The fuels used in Maarinkunnas are natural gas and heavy oil.

Noviter´s position as a leading supplier of district heating plants gets stronger

We shall deliver a 2 x 40 MW district heating boiler plant to Turku Energia in our home town. The boiler plant will be built into existing rooms in connection with power plant of Linnankatu. The boiler plant will cover the reserve and peak output of district heating needs. The solid matter emissions of flue gases will be minimized with flue gas cleaners to be installed to the boiler plant. The boiler plant will be automated so that remote drive can be used in operation. The plant will be taken into use at end of year 2004.

To Tampereen Sähkölaitos (Electric company of Tampere) we shall deliver an expansion of 40 MW to Hakametsä heating plant, which has been taken into use in 1994.  This is so called turn key- delivery and the delivery takes place in December 2004.

Almost at the same time we shall deliver the Saarijärvi heating plant to Kuopion Energia. The output of boiler plant is 40 MW. The fuel in Saarijärvi, as in other mentioned projects too, is heavy fuel oil. 

The total value of these projects is about 7 MEUR.

Noviter concluded the biggest contract in its history

Noviter Oy has entered into a significant agreement on delivering a steam boiler plant to AS Narva Elektrijaamad, the subsidiary of  AS Eesti Energia in Narva which is a frontier town of expanding EU.  Noviter Oy got the contract by winning an international bidding competition. The contract price is over 20 million euros. The total output of the steam boiler plant is 240 MW and it will be produced with three similar boilers.  The fuels of the boiler plant will be natural gas and heavy fuel oil.

Noviter´s scope includes the whole boiler plant with buildings as a turn key delivery. The boiler plant will supply district heating energy to city of Narva and to Narva power plant and process steam to a textile factory in Narva.  The works at the site will begin already during this January and the boiler plant will be ready in the beginning of summer 2005.  

Contracts have been made also in Finland

Noviter delivers a 30/40 MW hot water boiler plant to E.ON Finland Oyj to Kivenlahti in Espoo where they start to use landfill gas as fuel. The boiler plant will ready in the end of year 2004.  

Extension to Maarinkunnas boiler plant

Vantaa Energy Ltd. and Noviter Ltd. signed the contract to extend the Maarinkunnas boiler plant with 2 x 40 MW hot water boilers. The boiler plant will be ready for productional operation in December 2004. Noviter has also delivered the first stage of Maarinkunnas in 2001.

Quality news

We have worked on our quality system to make it serve better particularly our operation. The new version of our quality system was audited in the end of June by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance and they issued Noviter Oy the ISO 9001:2000 certificate, which is valid until the end of August 2005. From here it is good to continue to deliver high quality boiler plants.

Deliveries to Russia

We have made several contracts to deliver boiler plants to Russia.
Here are some examples:

  • 2 x 22 t/h steam boiler plant to OAO ”Povolzhie” company in city of Wolshky
  • 4 x 9,5 t/h factory made steam boiler plant to OAO ”Talvis”- company in city of Tambov

in 100 Dragon – canoeing event!

Noviter participated already for second time the annual 100 Dragon- canoeing event. Encouraged by last years fair success we decided to participate in charity canoeing also this year and we were even challenged by our co-operation partner Oktokon to a common start in this competition. The success was not better than before, but we had a lot of fun, so probably we shall carry on this tradition also in the coming years.

Bio energy has been produced in Paimio for over 4 months

The boiler plant firing bio fuels in Paimio was ready for test runs already in the middle of January, and it was handed-over to the Client at 19.2.2003.

The boiler plant was inaugurated into use in a solemn occasion at 3.3.2003 by the then social and health minister Maija Perho.  

New orders

Below some projects to be delivered during the year 2003 :

  • Raisio city, hot water boiler plant 1 x 12 MW
  • Porvoon Energia Oy, factory made water boiler plant 3 + 7 MW
  • Tamrest Oy, Arzamas, Russia, water and steam boiler plant 1 x 3 MW+ 8 t/h
  • Belarussian Railways, factory made boiler plants 2 x 3 MW+1 x 2 MW+2 t/h and 3 x 4 MW+2t/h

Nominations

Mr. Olli Elo who started in Noviter Oy as a vice president in the beginning of year 2002 has been nominated to a president and he starts in his new position in June 2003.  Before coming to Noviter Oy Mr. Elo has worked for Foster Wheeler Ltd.. The present president Mr. Pentti Koivikko continues in Noviter Oy as a Director of sales department and as a Chairman of the Board.

Also our material department has got new personnel when Mr. Ari Mikola, as well from Foster Wheeler, started as a Manager of boiler manufacturing and quality control in February.

Bio fuel boiler plant for Paimio, Finland

Noviter has expanded its product range to water and steam boilers powered by solid fuel. We carry out boiler design in cooperation with Oy Witermo Ab from Kaarina in Finland, a company with decades of experience in designing fluidised bed boilers.

The first solid fuel 9 MW boiler plant is being built for Paimion Lämpökeskus Oy, situated near the centre of Paimio. Installation work is quite well advanced and the boiler plant will be started up early in 2003.

Such materials as milled peat, softwood bark, sawdust, wood chips and forest-converted chips can all be burned at this plant.  Noviter supplies complete ”turn key” deliveries, which include the building in addition to all the process devices.
